PK-12 schools do not typically list summer teaching jobs with Southern Teachers, but there are excellent opportunities for summer school employment with one of the prestigious organizations listed here.
Placement agencies aren’t typically a resource for summer camps to hire counselors or for summer school programs to find teachers. In fact, the reverse is true. Summer camps and summer school programs are great resources for us as we recruit prospective new teachers. We keep our eyes out—as school administrators do—for candidates who have enjoyed coaching, teaching, supervising, mentoring, leading, and caring for kids all sorts of ways.
Many educators over the years have discovered their calling through their work as summer camp counselors. Administrators know that the skillset and personality of an effective summer staff member will often translate very well into the classroom. So if you’ve enjoyed serving at summer camp, say so on your resume—and apply to Southern Teachers to become one of our candidates for a career impacting young lives.
