Job title and salary will be commensurate with experience.

  • Maintain and cultivate relationships with college admission officers, which includes hosting them during their visits to campus.
  • Serve as advisor for approximately 8-10 students and have a strong appreciation for the value of social emotional learning (SEL).
  • Engage enthusiastically and actively in the St. John’s School community, including attending student athletic events, performances, social activities, and chaperoning.
  • Other duties as assigned, all within the context of being an integral member of and contributor to a dynamic, vibrant Upper School community of educators.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required; a master’s degree or higher is strongly preferred
  • A minimum of three or more years of college counseling experience at a high school
  • Experience at an independent school or higher education setting
  • Strong writing and communication skills, ability to work in a fast-paced, rigorous independent school setting, ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, teachers, and all other relevant professionals
  • Team player and self-starter who can both collaborate effectively as well as think independently. We capitalize on the different skills and expertise that each of our college counselors brings to the team and expect each member to contribute insight
  • A commitment to developing one’s own cultural competency in a community that celebrates and appreciates diversity.
