Georgetown Day School seeks a Middle School Math Teacher & Department Chair for the 2023-2024 school year.  The ideal candidate will have the capacity to teach upper elementary math through Algebra II and experience with mastery-based assessment.  Deep knowledge of one’s subject, enthusiasm for teaching middle schoolers, and a willingness to collaborate with colleagues are essential expectations of all GDS faculty.  Additionally, in a leadership capacity, the ideal candidate to lead the department must demonstrate a strong grasp of the subject matter, a willingness to give and receive constructive critical feedback, a passion for cultivating a positive department culture, an insatiable thirst to continue improving their own pedagogy, and a commitment to highlighting the department’s exemplary instructional practices and interrogating those practices that do not optimize student learning.
 
Primary responsibilities: Serve as Department Chair and teach three sections of math.
 
Qualifications
  • B.A. in Mathematics, Master’s degree is preferred
  • Significant experience working with early adolescents
  • Experience working as a department chair
