National Presbyterian School, a 300-student elementary school (Pre-K 3 through 6th Grade) located in Washington, DC, is conducting a search for a Director of the Lower Division to join the NPS community and administrative team starting in the summer of 2023.  
 
The Lower Division Director will be responsible for managing the day to day operations of the academic program in the four grade levels from Pre-Kindergarten 3 through 1st Grade.  General duties include supporting, observing, supervising, and evaluating faculty in those grades; monitoring student progress and providing for individual academic and personal guidance as needed; overseeing the academic program, curriculum, and records; serving as the primary liaison with Lower Division parents; and working closely with the Head of School, Director of the Upper Division, Director of Curriculum and Instruction and other members of the administrative team.
 
Qualifications of ideal candidates
  • Experience and a demonstrated record of success as an early childhood/pre-primary educator and administrator
  • A Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate discipline, Masters preferred 
  • Commitment to children and a familiarity with childhood development, educational approaches, and curriculum
  • High degree of integrity and trustworthiness
  • Ability to lead, support, and mentor faculty and to function as a collaborative member of a community
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Warm personality and positive spirit
  • Professional demeanor and presentation
  • Good sense of humor, balanced perspective, and high emotional intelligence
  • Proven ability to think strategically and creatively
