The Director of Enrollment is a senior administrator reporting directly to the Head of School. The Director of Enrollment is a member of the Administrative Team, the Financial Aid committee, leads the Admission and Marketing staff, and the Admission Committees in each division. The Director is a peer of the Advancement team, working closely with the Directors of Advancement, Marketing, and the CFO. She/He is responsible for executing the vision and mission of the school and providing oversight for all phases of the recruitment, enrollment, and retention processes to help HRA achieve its enrollment and revenue goals through building and maintaining a community of mission appropriate students and families. In the Office of Admission, the Director establishes relationships with, and creates a welcoming environment for prospective students and families, oversees Admission staff and the follow-up to admission funnel activities, applicant visits and assessments, and implementation of Parent and Student Ambassador programs. She/He develops and coordinates admission outreach events, and continuously cultivates relationships within the HRA community. The Director provides timely and comprehensive reporting to the Head of School, Board of Trustees and Administrative Team regarding all enrollment activities and challenges. The Director of Enrollment is a full-time salaried position, and contributes to the overall health of Hampton Roads Academy by way of the duties outlined below.
Primary Responsibilities
Oversee all admission office activities: inquiries, funnel process conversions, and support to candidate families.
Manage the Admission Staff and ensure the quality of their work and activities.
Provide the Head of School with data to guide enrollment predictions and budget.
Guide the Financial Aid committee in support of enrollment goals.
Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external partners to support brand awareness and enrollment.
Collaborate with Administrators and faculty to ensure admission standards and predictability in fact yield mission appropriate students.
Develop, implement and oversee HRA Admission and outreach events including: Open Houses, information sessions, target-area events, sponsored events and others as developed.
Work collaboratively with Advancement, Department, and Division staff on and off campus as needed.
Additional Qualifications and Skills
Director of Enrollment is a positive and responsive presence in the Offices of Admission, Divisions, Athletics and Fine Arts, and in HRA community at large. In addition to the skills outlined below, the Director must possess an authentic demeanor and exhibit absolute professionalism both on and off campus.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
A professional manner that conveys integrity and genuine enthusiasm for the mission of HRA.
Excellent supervisory, interpersonal and organizational skills.
Superb attention to detail, timely response, and quality control.
Proficiency in recordkeeping, data collection and reporting, and presentation creation.
The ability to work with families, effectively manage sensitive situations, and maintain confidentiality.
Advanced degree in Education or related field, or equivalent experience.
