Southern Teachers is the premier placement agency for private schools in the South. And we need your help to complete our important mission!
Since 1902, ST has helped thousands of teachers, coaches, and administrators find jobs at hundreds of private/independent schools around the South. Owned and operated by two families over five generations, ST has proudly served schools and educators for well over a century. Though we've made many changes in the agency's operations, we have deliberately and diligently preserved the level of personal service that has been the defining characteristic of Southern Teachers over the years.
Much like the schools we work with, we are a close-knit community with great camaraderie. From our daily “Tea Time” to the annual Christmas party, and all of the moments in between, we join together to celebrate our successes and discuss our challenges. As part of a small business with 12 full-time employees, each person is able to master new skills and make significant contributions to the success of ST every day.
Just one of the many benefits of working for ST is the location. Our historic office building in Charlottesville, Virginia, is located across the street from the University of Virginia--we're a 5-minute walk to Thomas Jefferson's Rotunda and the Grounds of the University. “The Corner” is jam-packed with delicious restaurants and shops that are hard to resist and is abuzz with the vitality and excitement that comes with life in a college town.
We need brains, energy, conscientiousness, and integrity. And conviction that all students deserve the best possible teachers. If you can see yourself sharing our passion, please continue reading!
Thank you for your interest. At this time, we have filled all positions. We will likely add an additional placement counselor next summer. Please check back!
We're headed to a college near you! Southern Teachers recruiters are traveling to career fairs, information sessions, and interview days throughout the fall. We would like to meet you! If you're a student interested in teaching, be sure to attend and find us under the elephant!

Southern Teachers is assisting Cary Academy in its search for a new Director of Admissions & Financial Aid to begin work next summer after the current Director retires. The new Director of Admissions will lead a team of four professionals who have helped the Cary Academy become the most diverse independent school in North Carolina and develop a highly successful parent and student ambassador program. With full enrollment, a wonderful reputation in the community, and outstanding student success in and beyond Cary Academy, the next Director of Admissions & Financial Aid will be stepping into a high functioning office with clear goals for the future.
Registration for Best of the South, our Atlanta Job Fair, will open November 1 for schools and candidates. Our fair on February 3, Super Bowl Saturday, will be a terrific way to find a private school teaching job. This annual event typically draws 125-200 teacher candidates and 50-60 schools from DC to Florida to Texas.
This teacher job fair is only open to active Southern Teachers candidates. Free admission. All majors and degrees sought. Apply today to become a Southern Teachers candidate!
This majestic creature symbolizes many different things in cultures around the world, but we selected it as our icon because the elephant and the agency have key traits in common.
